Robert Bohl– APQP (6ð) & Lean 6 Sigma Expert
Bob has over 30 years experience in quality, operations, engineering, and management. He has led many teams and built teams in the areas of quality and operations that have exceeded all goals and expectations. Bob has worked for several international organizations in the Automotive, Aerospace, Semiconductor, and Medical industries and has traveled extensively in Japan, Taiwan, Mexico, Ireland and England.
Bob traces his Lean background to the training and experience received from Yokogawa Corporation while working for the Japanese. As a result, he developed and led a continuous improvement/lean project that kept a manufacturing operation in the U.S. (not having to be moved overseas for labor advantage). Performance results from this project included: reduced lead time from 16 weeks to 2 days, reduced space by 80%, achieved 0 PPM delivered product quality, integrated quality into manufacturing (no independent QA), implemented one by one manufacturing (lot size of one), and improved employee morale (no defects, self managing, no work in process, rework, or scrap).
Bob traces his Six Sigma background to the training and experience received from Ford Motor Company and Bose Corporation (working with Honda, Mazda, and Nissan). As a result, he developed and established an Advanced Product Quality Engineering department (in both Automotive and Consumer products divisions of Bose Corporation) that resulted in the elimination of a remanufacturing plant (plant purpose was to rework product returned from the field). Product line quality was drastically improved from 150,000 PPM defective to less than 500 PPM defective from start of production to 6 months after SOP. As the first and primary Advanced Product Quality Engineer (APQE) at Bose Corporation, he was responsible for leading teams on program DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans, working with suppliers on new critical parts mitigation (full PPAP activities), and collecting, analyzing, and reviewing data from DV and PV builds in order to meet Six Sigma quality levels at product launch.
Bob holds an Associate of Science in Electronic Engineering from New Hampshire Community Technical College, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and a Masters in Business Administration from Daniel Webster College in Nashua New Hampshire. Bob has also received training and certifications in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Lean Sigma Champion, World Class Manufacturing from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Project Management Best Practices Certification from the Project Management Institute, and ISO implementation and auditing from the University of New Hampshire.
